September 27 – 30, 2012
What an incredible Celebration! On behalf of the entire planning committee, we thank you so much for being part of such a historic and game-changing event.
We began working on the 2012 Celebration with one goal in mind: to create the largest gathering of Harvard Law School Latino alumni in history. Thanks to you, we were able to assemble a truly impressive roster of speakers comprised of the brightest Latino lights in this country. And boy, did you deliver!
I went to every single panel, plenary session, lunch, dinner, and reception, and let me tell you: this Celebration was outstanding from bell to bell. From the amazing opening plenary to our unforgettable closing night trifecta — featuring a maestro trial lawyer, a legendary civil rights leader and a deal maker extraordinaire — you allowed us to showcase the very best of Harvard Law School’s Latino alumni community.
Many of you said you felt more connected to the Law School than ever before (in some cases for the first time ever). And everyone with whom I came into contact expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet and share experiences with old and new friends in such an inspirational setting. Without a doubt, the most gratifying part of the entire weekend was to see your reactions, your engaging conversations, and your renewed sense of purpose to do your part to ensure that the promise of Harvard Law School’s – and the Latino community’s – bright future becomes a reality.
Our challenge is to keep this great momentum going. And we are motivated. We will make it happen. We are already drawing up plans for the future, and we expect to share them with you shortly. In the meantime, I want to make a small down payment on one of our broader goals: the creation and development of a full-fledged HLS Latino alumni network. All participants of the Celebration will receive the list of attendees with contact information as a first step toward the creation of the most robust Latino law school alumni network in the history of this country.
A special thank you to the team at Harvard Law School who supported us from beginning to end. A tip of the hat to our awesome planning committee members: Ricardo Anzaldua ’90, Juanita Hernández ’85, Andrew Crespo ’08 and Regina Montoya ’79. And my heartfelt gratitude goes out to our Celebration sponsors, who believed in the promise of this great event and whose loyalty we hope to have amply rewarded.
Thanks again for joining us — and for making this weekend so special. Now, let’s get back to work. We have much to do. As our slogan says, Our Time Is Now.
