Nancy Marks ’83 and Nicholas Morales ’10

Nancy Marks ’83
is a Senior Attorney with the Natural Resources Defense Council in New York. When Nicholas Morales ’10 was a second year student at HLS he was interested in environmental law and had spent the previous summer in the Environment and Natural Resources Division at the Department of Justice. He was considering whether to spend his second summer at a private firm or an environmental non-profit. The Bernard Koteen Office of Public Interest Advising Office put Nick in touch with Nancy Marks for advice.

After speaking with Nancy, Nick decided to pursue work at a non-profit for the summer, and applied to several organizations, including NRDC. He accepted a position with NRDC’s New York office, and had the opportunity to work with Nancy on a lawsuit to force the cleanup of a North Jersey site contaminated by chromium pollution.

The NRDC was so impressed with Nick’s work during the summer of 2009 that they just hired Nick for a 2-year litigation fellowship that he’ll begin in September 2011 working in NRDC’s DC Office. Nick will join NRDC’s litigation team, which includes Nancy Marks and the attorneys with whom he worked during the summer of 2009. The NRDC is thrilled to be able to welcome Nick to their team.
