The Charles Hamilton Houston Institute at Harvard Law School seeks a social media research assistant. This individual will work with the Houston Institute faculty advisor and staff to design, coordinate and execute the Institute’s social media strategy, working across key social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube and Vimeo.

This individual will expand the Institute’s social media presence and increase public visibility for our events, publications, and website, by:
• Conducting an inventory of our current social media activities and making recommendations for streamlining, expanding, and coordinating across platforms; (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, Instagramand other social media platforms);
• Increasing the number of followers the Institute attracts to these platforms;
• Creating engaging blog and social media content
• Posting Tweets regularly;
• Updating the Institute Facebook account regularly;
• Helping develop and implement a new blogger component to the CHHIRJ website, including contributions from staff and guests;
• Maintaining a monthly social media and blogging calendar, and ensure that deadlines are met
• Driving awareness of our new blog posts by posting the articles into forums and groups
• Tracking key social media and website analytics on a monthly basis,
• Assisting in the creation and distribution of press releases and media alerts

Key Skills Required for the Role:
• Strong interest in, and knowledge of, the digital media landscape, including familiarity with key social media tools;
• A deep understanding of how social media can be used to advance mission-driven institutions;
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• An entrepreneurial attitude;
• Excellent attention to detail and a high motivation to learn;
• A collaborative spirit and ability to work well with others
