This course reflects an integrated approach to entertainment and media, particularly on legal doctrines and industry norms that are particular to this field. With the massive paradigm shift to digital production and distribution, the focus will be on how lawyers can shape current practices and future directions in the entertainment and media that reflect this new reality. We also will cover the role of Congress and various federal agencies and departments--such as the FCC, FTC and the Department of Justice--in establishing and enforcing entertainment and media policies and regulations. Prior coursework in intellectual property is highly recommended. Students will be required to prepare a topical research paper.
