This course covers the core aspects of United States patent law, including the patentability standards (utility, novelty, non-obviousness, and enablement), infringement and remedies. The course emphasizes the basic legal principles of patent law and the patent system's role in promoting innovation. Materials will consist of Robert Merges and John Duffy, Patent Law and Policy (5th ed. 2011) and supplementary readings available through the course homepage.
